Dr. Barry FrankelBarry Frankel, OD, received his Bachelor of Arts degree from State University of New York at Albany and Doctorate in Optometry, with honors, from Nova Southeastern University. He was licensed, and began practicing in Florida, in 1999.
Dr Frankel is a board-certified optometric physician who specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of ocular diseases, pediatrics, and specialty contact lens fittings for patients with Keratoconus and other irregular corneal abnormalities. He performs comprehensive eye exams in English and Spanish, co-manages patients with pre- and post-operative laser vision correction and cataract surgery, and does surgical consulting.
He is an active member of the American Optometric Association, Florida Optometric Association and Palm Beach County Optometric Association.
Originally from Brooklyn, New York, he now resides in Florida, working and enjoying family time, especially with his daughter Samantha and son Steven.
Dr. Richard CohenDr. Cohen received his Bachelor of Arts and Science in Computer Systems from Florida Atlantic University and then his Doctorate in Optometry, with honors, from Nova Southeastern University.
Dr. Cohen completed his Residency in Philadelphia at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, where he had specialty training in Primary Care Optometry, Glaucoma, Retina and other areas. He then went on to work for 3 years with TLC Laser Eye Centers in Boca Raton. Dr. Cohen has been a part of the team at Eye and Ear since 2002.
Outside of the office Dr. Cohen enjoys playing tennis, traveling, and is a self-described foodie.
Dr. Ashley DolesDr. Doles received both her Bachelors of Science in Health Sciences (Health Management) and Doctorate of Optometry degrees from Ohio State University. After graduating, she moved to Raleigh, North Carolina where she worked at a multi-location private practice prior to making south Florida home.
Dr. Doles joined our Eye and Ear team in January 2016, providing comprehensive eye care as well as disease management, specialty contact lenses fittings and low vision services. Outside of the office she is involved in the American Optometric Association and the Junior League of the Palm Beaches. She also enjoys spending time with her fiancé and dog, traveling, and cheering on the Buckeyes.
Dr. Pamela ReekersDr. Reekers received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology from Rollins College in Winter Park,Florida. She attended Illinois College in Chicago and received her Bachelor of Science in Visual Science and her Doctorate of Optometry. She then returned home to Palm Beach County.
Dr. Reekers joined an ophthalmology practice. She then opened her private practice of optometry in the Jupiter-Tequesta area. Dr. Reekers started working with Eye and Ear in 2009. She enjoys providing comprehensive eye care with a special interest in contact lenes. She enjoys listening to patients and providing them with the visual correction which will best fit their lifestyle. Dr. Reekers previously served as a president of the Florida Optometric Association. She worked to advance the practice of optometry and the services and level of care provided to patients throughout the state. Outside of the office Dr.Reekers enjoys spending time with her family and golfing with her husband.
Dr. Raymond E SchwartzDr. Raymond Schwartz received his doctor of Optometry degree from Southern California College of Optometry in Los Angeles, California. He has been in practice for many years and enjoys the challenge of solving difficult vision problems and fitting all kinds of contact lenses including those for astigmatism, bifocal and cosmetic. Dr. Schwartz has been very active in professional and civic organizations having served as president of the Palm Beach County Optometric Association and the Lake Worth Rotary Club. He has served on many committees in the Rotary Club in service to the community.
He served six years in the U S Navy with two tours of duty in Vietnam. He is a member of the American and Florida Optometric Association. He participates in humanitarian work locally as a volunteer at the Palm Beach County Health Center providing eye care for the needy.
Dr. Ronald GiddensDr.Giddens is a native of Palm Beach County and attended Palm Beach State College, the University of Florida and Southern College of Optometry. He began practice in 1971 consulting for an Ophthalmology practice for 8 years, then established a private practice in West Palm Beach. He joined Optical Insight in 2012 after an attempt of retirement, came back to enjoy seeing many of his previous patients. Dr. Giddens specializes in geriatric Optometry and contact lenses but loves the medical side as well, treating anterior segment pathology. He is a board certified in topical and oral pharmaceuticals.
He is active in community affairs having serving on the Palm Beach County Planning commission, the Emergency Medical Services Counsel, and the Palm Beach County Library District for over 30 years and serves as its current Chairman. He is active in Missionary aviation with Missionary Flights International serving the island of Haiti and the West Indies. He is the past director of Vision Services for the Samaritan Gardens Community Health Center and is married with two children, Rachel and Jonathan. Dr. Giddens is married to the former Joyce Rhodes and will celebrate his 50th anniversary in July of 2017. He is a pilot and amateur radio junkie!
Dr. Clifford E ParkerDr Parker is a long term resident of Palm Beach County Florida graduating from Forest Hill High School. He began the practice of Optometry serving with the 7th Field Hospital in Japan caring for evacuees from Vietnam. On returning he began practice in Palm Springs in 1969.
The practice was taken over by Dr. Raymond Schwartz in 1976 allowing Dr. Parker to pursue a keen interest in reaching out to people in the greatest need. For the next 3 years he worked in Afghanistan as a teaching /clinical optometrist at the NOOR Eye Institute in Kabul. He was forced to leave when the Russians invaded Christmas Day 1979.
In 1982 Dr. Parker was asked to head a blindness prevention project in Sri Lanka where he established the School of Ophthalmic Technology. The program is credited with making a major contribution to the excellent eye care of the country. The school continues to train personnel.
In 1999 Dr. Parker was again called upon to develop the Low Vision Project in Jordan and the Middle East. During the next 8 years he contributed to the development of Optometry in Jordan and the region and established the School of Optometry in the department of Applied Medical Sciences at the Jordan University of Science and Technology serving as an Assistant Professor. He participated in multiple extended working and development visits to Afghanistan, Syria, Lebanon and Yemen.
The years between the overseas work, were spent in the Palm Beach area largely working with Dr. Schwartz in his old practice. He continues to reach out to people in need by volunteering at the Community Health Center in West Palm Beach.
Dr. Natalia MalaretDr. Malaret attended Virginia Tech where she received her Bachelor of Biological Sciences. Afterwards, she studied at Nova Southeastern University for her Doctorate of Optometry degree. During her externship rotations she gained extensive experience in primary care, geriatrics, surgical co-management, contact lenses, and pediatric care. Her professional interests include contact lenses and ocular disease management. She performs comprehensive eye examinations in English and Spanish.
Dr. Malaret is a member of the American Optometric Association and Florida Optometric Association. Dr. Malaret is originally from Northern Virginia. In her spare time she enjoys outdoor activities such as bicycling and scuba diving, as well as spending time with family and friends.
Dr. George SchmidtDr. Schmidt received his Bachelor of Science in Physiological Optics and Doctor of Optometry Degree from Ohio State University. Dr. Schmidt enlisted in the United States Air Force during his senior year in Optometry School, and spent three years as Chief of the Eye Clinic at Tyndall Airforce Base in Florida were he was responsible for the Vision Care of active and retired military personnel. Dr. Schmidt was a founding director of the Ocular Nutrition Society, an international group of doctors who are interested in furthering nutritional research on the eyes through education and research. On his spare time Dr. Schmidt likes to swim, He has two masters world record breaking relays in 2017. In 2016 he was ranked #1 in the world in the 200 meter, backstroke, along with 8 other top 10 finishes. He has won six Gold medals at the National Senior Olympics Games and followed it with five more golds at the World Masters Games which were held in Canada.
Dr. Dominic VillantiDr. Villanti received his Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology from the Pennsylvania State University. He then attended the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University, where he received his Doctorate of Optometry degree. In order to gain valuable experience, Dr. Villanti performed clinical rotations at the Jacksonville VA and The Eye Institute in Philadelphia as well as private practices in Denver, CO and Jacksonville, FL. He currently performs comprehensive eye exams with a passion for specialty contact lens fittings, anterior segment pathology and emergency care. Originally from Sayre, Pennsylvania Dr. Villanti decided to move south where he could spend time outdoors year-round. Away from the office, he enjoys watching sports, hiking and spending time with family.
Dr. Regina ManesDr. Regina Manes graduated from the State University of New York State College of Optometry in 1985. She then completed a post-graduate residency program specializing in ocular disease. During this residency she also supervised interns at the New England College of Optometry Pediatric Clinic in Boston, MA. In 1996 she received a master’s degree in Developmental Biology from the Neuroscience Department at the University of Oregon. In addition Dr. Manes has attended almost 200 hours of post graduate training in vision development and vision therapy.
She has a special interest in helping people whose vision is affected by acquired brain injury from concussions, stroke or related to seizures. She also has an interest in helping children with vision related learning disabilities, strabismus, amblyopia and other vision problems.
